New Soaps...yes more

Here are some of my newest soap creations.

Easter egg soaps in assorted colors. Scented in Brown Sugar. A cute addition for this Easter season. Actual size eggs.

Cute, mini cupcake soaps in assorted colors. I scented these cuties in birthday cake fragrance. Yum! Almost good enough to eat and oh so adorable!

My new goldfish in a bag soap. I scented these cute little guys in Fruit Loops. They smell so much like the cereal it is unbelievable. The kids just love these!

My goldfish aquarium soap. Complete with a little plant - hey, it wouldn't be complete without some plant life. I scented these in vanilla.
Oh look... a clue! Blue's Clues paw print soap. This would make a great party favor! I scented it in Grape Soda. It is one of my favorite kid scents. It smells so good!

Lego Blocks. I already make the lego men so why not cute little blocks to go with them. I scented these in Berries and Cream to coordinate with the lego men.

  1. Your soaps look beautiful!

I have just started making those goldfish myself and people do love them. I'm wondering what size bags you use for yours and how much they weigh when you're done. My first ones were very cute but they were too big to fit in the hands of the really little kids, so I'm trying to find a way to make mine smaller but still look good.

How do you get your fish to say in place? I use thin craft wire and stick the fish on the end of the wire and then suspend them in the soap. Then I pull the wire out after the soap is set. It's kind of a lot of work though.

I think I will start suspending my bags while I pour the soap, as opposed to letting the bags rest on the countertop. I'll see if that makes mine come out any better. How much do you charge for yours? I've been selling them for $5.

I really like your golfish aquarium soaps too! Gorgeous! How do you get that sandy look on the botton? It's awesome!

  2. Oops, forgot to ask this - Where do you get your Fruit Loops Fragrance Oil? I had some on my 'Wish List' at Wholesale Supplies Plus' but I've not yet ordered it. You're the first person I've seen who uses it. Did it discolor your soap at all?

  3. Thank you!

The bags I use are approximately 4"x7". I tried some of my smaller bags, but the soap melted a hole in the bag - a real mess! I would like to try even smaller ones too.

If I remember right, they are around 4 oz.

I am still working on a better method to make them.

I opened my bags and rolled them down a little. I took several heavy, tall cups and clipped the bag between to cups so it was suspended between the cups. I then poured a small amount of melted soap in the bag and let it set until it formed a film on the top and was starting to set up. I then put my fish in and pushed it down slightly so that it would set up correctly in the soap. I let this get good and hard.

I then sprayed it with alcohol and poured another layer on top of it. You will want to be sure you've pushed the goldfish down in the first layer so it doesn't loosen and go belly up after the second layer is added. I had this happen to one of them.

I was worried about it looking layered, but the layers seamed together great. You couldn't even tell.

I hope this info helps. I didn't have the best of luck and ended up spilling a couple of bags, but like I said, with some more tweaking it should work ok.

I ask $5 for mine as well. They are kind of a pain, but are so cute!

As for the aquarium soap I did a first layer with the solid, tan soap for the base. I let that set up slightly then poured a thin, clear layer on top of that. The 1st layer slightly fogged up the 2nd layer. I put that in the fridge and then poured the rest of the clear to finish it up.

  4. I got my fruit loops fragrance from wholesalesuppliesplus. I ordered it in the kids fragrance kit. I can't believe how real it smells!

It is slightly yellow in color so I really didn't use much when I was making the soap. It is a very strong fragrance so it still smelled wonderful even with using a minimal amount.

    I like it!

  5. You've done a great job on your fish soaps. Yours look better than mine. I've had some issues with my fish going belly up as well. Or I get soap on the bag, or the bag ends up in a crinkled mess. I agree that they are a bit of a pain in the butt. I use Bramble Berry's Pearberry or Watermelon fragrance since they are both very clear fragrances if they aren't overused. I'm still trying to perfect my technique as well. It's all a learning experience! But people are always so impressed with them.

I get my goldfish from the oriental trading company. What mold do you use for your aquarium fish? I'd like to try that soon. Yours are just adorable.

  6. Sorry it took me so long! : ) I've been needing to make more goldfish soaps but just haven't had the time or room to spread my mess out. I have never tried the pearberry, but like the watermelon fragrance too. I just LOVE the grape soda fragrance. It smells so real!

I used the loaf mold and placed several fish and plants down in it after I poured my "sand" layer. I drew lines on the top edge of my mold so that I could see where to place my fish and plants and cut them apart without any issues. It worked out pretty well for the first try. They turned out to be very big, thick bars that way though.
